Hotel Occupancy Up and So is the Water

22 Feb Hotel Occupancy Up and So is the Water

Hotel occupancy are at 82% right now on Kauai, which is 17% over last year at this time. Average room rate on Kauai is $250 per night.  The bad news about that is that it has rained on Kauai for the last week.  Did I forget to mention the high winds.  However, maybe it because I am spoiled because I live on Kauai and am just used to the best weather on the planet but brrrrr. Tourist don’t seem to mind much.  They probably just watched the news and saw that if was snowing in Arizona and San Diego and figured this weather looks pretty darn good to them.

Talk about high water, woman swept out to sea at Hanakapia River and 54 folks stuck on the wrong side of the river had to be rescued.  That river came up so fast these hikers were taken by surprise.  Remember hikers, it is not the water that is raining on you, but the amount of water that is raining in the mountains that causes flash floods.  Flash Flood Kauai
